Rules can feel strict at first—but in early recovery, structure is what keeps you safe.
At Journey to Sober Living, our house rules are not about control. They are about protection: of your life, your recovery, and the safety of the whole house.
Our Rules are Built To:
Keep the home drug‑ and alcohol‑free
Support 12‑step and other recovery work
Build honesty, responsibility, and respect
Here are examples of the types of rules we follow:
No drugs, alcohol, or mood‑altering substances on or off property
Regular drug and alcohol testing to protect the whole house
Curfew and sign‑in/sign‑out procedures so we know residents are safe
Required meeting attendance (12‑step or other approved recovery meetings)
No violence, threats, or harassment of any kind
Respect for staff, peers, and property at all times
We are clear about these expectations from day one. Every resident receives our policies and procedures in writing and has a chance to ask questions.
Why So Much Structure?
Because addiction thrives in chaos and secrecy. Recovery grows in honesty, routine, and accountability. When everyone follows the same standards, trust grows. And when trust grows, men can open up, be honest, and do the hard work of change.
If you’re thinking about applying, know this: we will be direct and transparent about our rules so there are no surprises—only a clear path forward.
